Hi Lee

If it was a Ni-Cd or NiMH I'd say go ahead but Li-ion need special 
chargers that monitor both the temperature and the voltage. If the 
battery gets too hot it'll explode. It would be safer to build a dc 
charger using one of the commonly availible charging chips or 
modify your battery charger to take dc and hook the solar panel up 
to it.
