OK you got me curious ... why is the LACK of a fast lens an advantage?

Why would adjusting aperture to cause the background to blur out be classed 
as 'lazy'? I thought you'd want to have as much flexibility as you could ...


Whilst we're on the topic ... anyone got any opinions on the cheaper 
digital cameras? Specifically the Olympus C-200 (the D-510 for you 
NTSC'ers) and the Minolta Dimage X (that really tiny, thin one)?
