Subject: Re: [LIB] List of ISA controller modem & NIC cards for L50/70

There are a lot of PCMCIA Winmodems. I found this link to a list of mdoems
that have been tested for Linux compatibility. On the left edge in red,
you'll see Winmodems that are listed as not being compatible:

http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/pcmcia_list.html

If you're saying that 32 bit PCMCIA modems are 'cardbus' by definition, that
would help differentiating between ISA 16 bit and 32 bit cards on that list.
It seems the list indicates of a modem is cardbus. Still, if it DOESN'T
specify cardbus for a modem, I have no way of knowing if it was just left
out of the description.

Still, I've spent a couple hours going through modems listed on EBay and
have comapared models to the list above, and the "Linux PCMCIA Supported
Device List" file, and I've found few that I can really deternime are 16 bit
controller modems.

I'd like a card with a type 2 height, so I'll pass on the your Xircom model
Raymond.

There are a bunch of these Bromax EN10-T2T ethernet cards on EBay starting
at $8.99USD:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2025240413

The fact that they're 10-Base-T would lead me to guess that they're 16 bit.
But does 16 bit necessarily mean thay are controller cards. Still haven't
found out if ethernet cards can be Win-ethernet cards.

Thanks for the info on identifying the edges of the cardbus cards. That'll
help if I go out shopping for one.

Matt
