From: David Chien <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>I spent the night of taking the 100CT close to completely apart, checking it over, and putting it all back together. The left hinge assembly looks okay. It looks like the metal strap screwed to the lid has a piece of cylindrical plastic riveted to a flange that acts as the hinge. I suspect that plasic piece is what broke on Nick's Lib.

No play at all here on my L110. Resistance felt through the entire 180 degree range.
It turns out the source of the extra play in the lid is a result of 1 of 3 cracks on the side edge of the top half of the case. It's right under the space in between the screen and the left hinge/mic post. When I watch the post when I move the lid backwards, the post flexes outward from the lid. When I pull the screen forward, it leans inward toward the screen.
The whole top half of the case fell apart into 2 pieces when I pulled it off. The other 2 splits are right beside the Ctrl and End keys. Essentially the 1/3 of the case above the battery separates from the back 2/3. But it all screws back together relatively securely, albeit after a bit of extra puzzling.
** Anyone have a 100CT case sitting around?!! **
> Does anyone know if there's a fix for the stiff buttons?
An external mouse. I've used my L110 for quite a bit and it's still the same stiff feel.Heh... I've been using an external mouse on the 50 and 70 for a few years! Accupont is a lot cooler than the standard notebook mouse. But at home, why bother?
Funny... My brother's girlfriend visiting from Sweden said that >ALL< notebooks that she's seen over there have accupoint mice! She'd never seen a touchpad or that mouse-in-the-keyboard type of mouse.
Charger cords:
.... <snip> ....http://www.hirose.co.jp/ makes the L100/L110 power connectors. HRS is stamped on the connector.
I guess is does make sense to have one of these when you travel with two batteries. That way you only need to bring one AC adaptor. Good to know parts are available.
> Then at some point I'd really like to set up the W2K OS on the 100, > and pray for less crashing.I've found the cause of the W98SE crashes. It's my CF PC card reader. For some reason I can plug it in, but can't pull it out without the system freezing. It may be conflicting with the modem that I used to have to pull out of the 70 to prevent lock up at boot. However I can leave the modem in the 100 when it boots. I'll have to test the CF reader without the modem plugged in.
been running win98se on my L110 forever and it has rarely ever crashed.
Key is to always to a fresh install of the OS, drivers, apps and settings, then backup everything to CD-R. That way, system is totally stable for months, even years to come. Install apps over apps over time and you'll get a messed up system.Since you pointed this out a number of months back, I've been doing that. Plus I have an extra partition on my 20MB HDD, so I leave one fresh installation alone and intact as my backup. I'll have to backup the ghost file it I go multi OS.
Then again, computers DO listen to me when I'm around, so they never badly misbehave...Heh... I said that about my ability to keep W98 tamed a day before it went nuts! ;-P
