Very odd. I've got a simple CF PCMCIA converter here, and it's just plug & play.

Yup! Stuck it in, Windows found it, and asked for the path to the Win98 folder, or just set drivers up automatically, I can't remember which.

No problems at all inserting and ejecting. Again, the converter card
itself (PCMCIA) is basically just a pass-through electrically to the CF card. If there's a problem, it's most likely with the software.
