I'm saying that for most Libretto uses, it won't matter much - word
processing, internet, gps, etc. Yes, if you're transfering/copying a lot of
data frequently like with DV, video, etc. work, you'd probably notice a
difference still, but in the end, if you're just starting up Internet Explorer
or Word for general use, it won't matter much. I would rather have more
storage space than a slightly faster HD in my case, and I'd go for a nice fat
80GB HD in my Libretto instead of a 60GB 5400rpm drive.

But, for those wanting the best performance, you can't beat a 5400rpm HD in a
laptop, and it really does make it feel snappier if you start to do a lot with
it.

All of the specs on 5400rpm HDs however do show that the WATTs of heat
dissipated during use is higher than with 4200rpm HDs, so if you do start to
use the Libretto HD a lot, it'll wind up being a hotter unit overall, and I'm
not certain if the up to 0.5WATT difference would cause serious problems with
the Libretto -- probably not in most cases, but it could if the ambient temp.
is already very hot.

Anyways, they'll both work, and for most cooler climates, they'll be cool
enough idle that you'll never have to worry about a problem, so go ahead and
give them a try.

Some of the latest HDs do come with killer 16MB cache, so these are the gems
to focus on - see my website for the latest HD list updated with those HDs.
They'll let you're Libretto run as fast as they can.
