I think it is the latest version which still is indifferent to hard drive
brand - works on 'em all.

:David suggested a process of determining exactly where the cylinders were,
:but 1010-1040 seems to work for most people who don't want to deal with
:that. He said that before you install the drive overlay, make a partition
:at the end of the 8GB HDD of about 2-3GB and install Windows on it. Then
:open Notepad and write a small bit of text you can search for. Then put the
:system into hibernation. That will write the hibernation data to the HDD.
:Then reboot, and use a hex editor to search for the text you wrote in
:Notepad. That will lead you to the hibernation area, and you can scroll
:back and forth to find the beginning and ending cylinders.

I don't think one would want to install Windows on the partition straddling
the hibernation area!

:After doing that, I think my hibernation ended up at cylinders 1016 - 1037,
:or was it 1023 - 1037?

I remember David's project, and used something similar. Saved .wav files to
"suspect" areas between 1010 and 1040, then played them back to check for
corruption. Interestingly, the corrupted files were always 64MB in size,
regardless of their original size. Anyway, that suggested something like
1018-1033 cylinder span, so I set up 1013-1039 for safety's sake and peace of
mind.

I'm starting to wonder whether Oliver (remember him?) is still awake after
these posts :-o
