It accesses it online. The EAC I liked but not enough to pay for it,
We must be talking about 2 different EAC programs. Exact Audio Copy is freeware designed by Andre Wiethoff http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ and from what I can tell, is the preferred Windows front end for LAME developers over at Hydrogen.
and the one-track-click-to-continue was a pain :)
??? >This< EAC will retrieve CDDB data as soon as you put a music CD in the drive, and all you have to do is select-all, or select individual tracks to rip, and then click the MP3 icon to rip everything you've selected non-stop. It first rips a WAV file, and then brings up LAME in a DOS window which will rip as an accurate MP3 as you're apt to find anywhere if you've got it set up correctly.

I can't argue for LAME - I've never used it. But I like the ogg files I've
heard at various compressions. However, it's best when it's variable, rather
than forcing a fixed bit-rate: that way you get a smaller file when the music
is simple, with more bits available when it's more complex. 128k average
seems about right.
All of the latest LAME presets use VBR encoding except for the 'insane' preset which uses CBR to encode at 320kbps. I haven't yet given Ogg a try yet as I've ripped to MP3s for years, and have been playing then on the NEX II I got last summer. But I remember your telling me about Ogg some time back, and it was a factor in getting the NEX when I saw they were planning on supporting in soon.

I think they've been waiting for a suitable integer decoder. Now I think Xiph
have released one.
Yeah... Last September the Ogg team released a freeware version of their integer decoder, which was when Frontier Labs announced they were working on implementing it in a firmware update as soon as they got it working. So we're all hoping they'll make their 2nd quarter target for release. They would really like to be the first to tout a portable with Ogg support.
