Until Neil or other <=L70 expert weighs in, I'll try and answer some of your
questions.

There is no web site that I've found with a procedure for setting up the
L50/70 as you describe. Besides, that'd take all the fun out of it!

Before you decide what method to use for getting w98se on your hard drive,
see if the parallel port CDROM drive is seen on boot by DOS. Seems like I
remember reading that may work. If so, that *could* be the best method. A problem
with a full refresh on a L50/70 is the single PCMCIA slot and the need for a
customized boot disk containing DOS drivers for PCMCIA CDROM and Card & Socket
Services. With a parallel-connect CDROM, you can exclusively use your PCMCIA
slot for the L50/70 floppy drive.

You should experience no problems installing the Toshiba drivers after W98 is
installed, regardless of the means.

Having said all that, it may be simpler to pull the drive and do all the work
using a 2.5" x 3.5" adapter in a desktop. You can coipy all the Tosh drivers
that way, too. BE SURE to partition and format the HDD in the Libretto,
though.

Hibernation you're stuck with - it's integrated into the BIOS. If your HDD
is <8.4GB, the Libretto will handle the ugly details during partition/format.
If >8.4GB, you must set aside (small partition or unallocated space) cylinders
1010-1040 or so.
