I need help! I destroyed the Windows 98 OS on my Libretto 110CT. I went to reload it all and found my recovery boot diskette is bad as well! Does any one have one? Its 1.2 meg so it is uploadable. Thanks everybody,
Bill
Boy... I don't even recall getting a recovery FDD when I bought my 50CT back in '97.
But any old Windows boot floppy made from some other system will get you to the DOS prompt. You can re-install Windows from there if the installation files are still on you hard drive. CD\ to the installation directory, and run 'setup'.
You might 1st want to check to see if your old Win98 setup is recoverable. What happened to loose access to it? Sometimes all you need to do is run a Windows boot FDD, and then run scandisk.
A trick I've learned in the past when making multiplle attempts to get Windows set up on the same system is to run 'setup /is'. Once scandisk has checked the HDD, there's no need (at least in my experience) to have to have scandisk run each subsequent attempt to setup Windows if you have problems the 1st time. The /is switch skips running scandisk.
I also like keeping the Win98 installation files on a 2nd partition. That way I can run 'format c:', to start from a clean file syste,
Matt
