The *male* connectors are available from www.cpc.co.uk - part number CN0572566
- 2.5mm centre hole, 6.25mm outer diameter, 9mm length. They have a matching
inline socket CN0649066 as far as I can see.

Are you sure that's not a 5.5mm outer diameter? I don't have calipers to measure it, but I don't get any search hits on "2.5mm 6.25mm coaxial plug", though lots for "2.5mm 5.5mm coaxial plug". Seems CPC only wants to list the measurement for the i.d..
I think these US companies have the "female" (female/male ... male/female ... androgynous??) connector I'm after, but they are 2.5mm x 5.5mm. These all look the same:

Think this is the right animal? Funny Digi-Key has the screwy 100/110 male plug, but only seems to have the board mount connector to fit the 50/70 male plug.
