FWIW, the Esperanto community uses "libera programaro" to mean "free
software".  I guess the hardware equivalent would be "libera ferajxo".

(Note for the unaware: The "jx" combination is \^\j in LaTeX, '\xBC' in
iso8859-3 or '\u0135' in unicode.)
