David, Keith: I'm thinking about this and doing testing. Right now there
are so many discussions on the mailing list that this can wait a few days.
James: what we're talking about is separate from this patch, and shouldn't
influence countdown. This patch can be, in my opinion, pushed right after
the countdown.
