Dear Lincoln Talk,

I need suggestion what to do with 2 large coyotes roaming in the
neighborhood and now around my property. They look large (size of a full
grown German shepherd) and very well fed!

Last week I heard them being around in the neighborhood and even in close
proximity of neighbor houses or them walking. Then yesterday (Sunday), I
witnessed first hand in my property in v close proximity and showed no
scare of us human! At 9am, one was one was trying to mark territory in my
back yard then another one appeared in close distance. They chased one
another and one almost got on to my backdeck!

Today again, I was just about to go out for walk (5:20pm), one of my
neighbors alerted me that 2 coyotes headed to my driveway!!! Another
neighbor drove over and scared them off…. They probably are still in the
woods nearby!

These scenes are very alarming and def scary to me! Plus several kids in
neighborhood walk to bus in the morning and walk back home - while no
attack no far, can anyone guarantee it won’t happen?

One neighbor called Town’s Animal Control last week but was told nothing
could be done unless coyote attack a person or a domestic pet? Really?

I could pour vinegar or ammonia etc on my backyard to fend off their
territory marking - but could the Town pls do sth to control these wild
animals before sth bad happens?

I welcome your suggestions how to rid of these animals who seem to be
getting comfortable and settled in our human habitat!

Thank you!
