Is there any way around this? Like a "home made" character converter in Lingo?
Since I can't change the xml-file the unicode characters need to be converted in the Shockwave movie.
Yeah, I've done that. I don't have the code at home, but I'll send it along on Monday if you still need it. You have to rip through your imported XML string and substitute the proper chars for what Director interprets them as. I use a simple prop list, and the offset function, to replace the two chars that Director "sees" for a single special character. You need two lists, though, because the unicode is translated differently on Windows and Mac. I built the lists by pulling the unicode into Director and copying what gets pulled in to my lists... I have a fairly inclusive set for Spanish, and maybe French.
