Yeah, you're right in that Mac users can in fact choose to have Safari
launch as a native app (will only load MacIntel-native or UB plugins) or
under Rosetta (will only load non-MacIntel-native or UB plugins). Being
as the default and likely preferred experience is to have it launch as a
native app I gave my reply above. You have to make the choice before
launching the application (you must find the Safari application bundle,
then select it and press command-I to get the info panel view, on that
panel is a checkbox for "Open using Rosetta". So each time you launch
you must be sure you know which mode it's in.

Well, it loads in that configuration just fine and in fact it looks
fairly snappy with some of the basic content I've seen. I can give it a
quick test with some 3D content, do you perhaps have your own favorite
benchmark like content you'd like me to test? I can always test with
some internal test content but I figure that any data I provide might be
more valuable if it's done against content you folks use and are
familiar with. Toss a link my way and I'll let you know what sort of
frame rate I get.

Note: as of today I'm using one of the Apple "Developer Transition Kit"
(DTK) machines and not one of the commercially available Macs (Intel P4
3.6 GHz with 1GB RAM), that may affect performance perceptions and limit
direct MacIntel-PPC performance comparisons. But it can at least give us
a rough idea of how fast or slow the Shockwave player is within a
Rosetta emulated Safari.
