Me being the usual smart a@# at night, did you try

member(someVectorCastMember).fillcolor = rgb(128,128,128)

or if you want a gradient:

member(someVectorCastMember).fillcolor = rgb(128,128,128)

member(someVectorCastMember).fillmode = #gradient
member(someVectorCastMember).endColor = rgb(196,0,0)

This seems to work in D7, I doubt that D8 changed that, but you caught me
with my pants down so to speak and I don't have D8 on my computer at this
exact second... have to toss it back on later tonight so I can work
tomorrow.
