The message window focus issues are valid bugs in D8 on Windows, the
workaround is to keep the PI open (usually for most of us, it seems to be
nice to tuck it down into the bottom right corner of the monitor (dangling
out of sight with just the titlebar showing). Then all focus problems go
away.
