Yes something like that is lacking in beatnik...but I've been able to do full recording of midi messages, but had to lock to the fake smpte in beatnik, which was very lose and not really dealing with note setup like you do with the sequencer xtra. Take a look at grimmwerks.com/portfolio/tvt/hurricane/ On a similar note, I wonder if you can use the 2 xtras together - could sequence xtra be used to map to the beatnik xtra to play built in samples rather than using the gm midi of quicktime?
