Richie,
Check your code in the second movie and see if you stomp on that variable in a 
prepareMovie or startMovie handler. Also verify that the variable isn't cleared in the 
first movie when leaving it (check for stopMovie handlers, or objects that set the 
global's value when destroyed). The fact is that globals are in fact maintained across 
movies when you use gotoNetMovie, the trouble here is finding out where in your movie 
you're altering that variable unexpectedly.

Easiest first approach: use the find mechanism to search all your scripts for 
"globalName =" and see if any of those instances could be at fault here (check both 
movies).
