Perhaps this explanation might be more helpful. After you have copied what you want, *close* the Director *program* - note *not just the file only*. Close everything.
Go to Start programs, open the Director program again. Then choose File> New Movie. Go to Edit> Paste Text. Everything will be copied over. There should not be any message stating that the file is in use by another user. Hope this helps!
