That's easier said than done. I recently had a client who was reluctant to
upgrade their sound drivers. It was proven that the new sound drivers cured
the problem of slow MPEG playback on their machines (I have no idea why).
The estimated cost of upgrading the drivers on all their machines was
$35,000 ($35.000 in the context of this thread). Sure, drivers are free,
but that's not the only cost involved in upgrading hundreds or thousands of
machines. I can understand their reluctance to do the upgrade when it seems
your product is the only software that requires it.

Still, if it's the only cure, then it's the only cure.

FWIW, in my strange slow MPEG case I was able to find an even stranger
work-around. I had to set the DirectMedia member's playback rate property
to 0%. Now all is well - even on machines that don't display the
slow-motion problem.
