Well, I already visited that company, got sys.admin. to download the latest
version of "HP LJ 5M" driver and install it on one machine: problem was
gone! (With all the other printers it worked just fine from the beginning.)
And, yet, he said: "Updating all working stations?! To complicated! Can't
you fix your application". [ If it wasn't tragic, here I would add :)))) ]

Now I am trying to get some info on HP web site about driver history
(as Jakob has suggested), and have found some, but so far 
no info about this particular bug...
