Are you saying that they played poorly in authoring, or just in shockwave? Were you definitely listening to the resampled files when you were in SoundForge? I think you're doing it wrong anyway. You should keep the sounds full quality in Director, and then when you publish the sounds are changed to shockwave audio. You can set the quality in the publishing settings, based on the date rate you want them to take.
