A perfect example is the Monkeypox virus mentioned by Stephen and another is
Ebola, which I think has also surfaced in the West.

We certainly need a national, time-limited, vaccine registry for all the
reasons mentioned here by Jan and others. But elaborate schemes for recording
who has what vaccine are just band-aid solutions which eventually become
unworkable. The number of cross-interactions between vaccines and variations
in human physiology will rise algebraically, and it would have to be done
consistently and effectively on a global scale.

A much better solution IMO is to ditch the fantasy of Man's control over this
planet and ever-lasting economic growth, so humans and other beings can live in
mutual support.

Otherwise, as Tom Lehrer sang in another contest, we'll go together when we
go... though maybe the Hottentots and Eskinos will survive.
