Well, yes. But we don't have the vaccine. And more than that, we surely will be vaccinating children eventually and they will not necessarily have an ID.

Don't we need to record who's been vaccinated? How many have been vaccinated? If not just for accounting purposes, after all, these are actually expensive vaccines. Eventually it probably won't matter, but for instance, travel will probably require vaccination; events where we'll want to guarantee the people in the crowds are vaccinated; and we'd like to know if there are hold-out regions that will pose a risk.
