Competent developers optimize their code, where appropriate.
I am at EduTech Australia. A vendor gave a presentation saying that with
their product you did not need to know how to code, just computerize the
forms and work-flow you already use. They were selling a cloud based
software as a service, so the slower the code ran the more revenue they
get. This is not a company I will be recommending doing business with. ;-)
