Hi Dave, Since you are considering DFDSS I assume you have the 2.4 kernel with CDL support? In that case I would use OS/390 RACF to protect the volumes, whether they are online or not. RACF DASDVOL can protect them from ICKDSF when they are offline and from DFDSS etc when they are online. Then you should also protect the datasets (Linux partitions) with normal dataset rules. If you don't have RACF, I assume ACF2, TOP SECRET etc have similar functions.
