Oh, and when you have sorted this out and planned, remind me to ask a question to the list about "Restoring VM with only Linux facilities" ;-) You would need a process where you can start one of your Linux guest native in the LPAR (from the CD maybe) and use that to restore your VM volumes. And you should probably be prepared to lose spool and NSS files, but that may be something you can live with if you run mainly Linux guests. I do see that it could be attractive for the "Linux only" z/VM shops, but I don't think we have all bits and pieces ready now. Rob
