Nelson, You don't want to download stuff from Red Hat's rawhide directories unless you like to debug things that don't work. You should be downloading Red Hat 7.2 from ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/7.2/en/os/s390/ if you want a 32-bit version, or ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/7.1/en/os/s390x/ for 64-bits.
I just checked the contents of the initrd files at ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/7.2/en/os/s390/images/tapeinrd.img and ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/7.2/en/os/s390/images/initrd.img They do have an lcs.o module in them: $ cpio -i -t < modules.cpio 2.4.9-37BOOT/cramfs.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/ctc.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/dasd_diag_mod.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/dasd_eckd_mod.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/dasd_fba_mod.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/dasd_mod.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/ext3.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/ipv6.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/isofs.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/jbd.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/lcs.o <----------- 2.4.9-37BOOT/loop.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/netiucv.o 2.4.9-37BOOT/tape390.o 1868 blocks So, if you use one of them, you should be able to get your LCS device working. The url for the redhat 8.0 for s390 is http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/redhat/rawhide/s390/ I have 02 lpars running suse 7.2 and im trying to install redhat in a new lpar. I can not ipl from a CD, so im trying to install using a boot tape. We have a OSA 2 card in our 9672 - G4. Thats why we need a kernl with lcs support for installing the new software. We also can use disk to install it. What you are saying is taht the redhat 7.2 has support for OSA 2 (lcs.o driver) in it initrd file. I tryed to ipl with the image files fro redhat 7.2 and i got the error "no lcs module found" how would i install it on my server? My problem is that i need a INITRD with lcs in it. Redhat 7.2 does have a INITRD with support (lcs.o) compiled in it. Wich distributions are and will be available for download in the near future. Some people are saying tha only redhat will maintain sites for download. Thanks in advance
