There are at least two other camps A growing 'I clicked on edit file' community, which I think is good for the non technical end of things. Also the 'wordstar is king' community who tend to run joe (or hardcore wstar folk as 'jstar'). Actually some people find pico their ideal editor too - sort of like MSDOS edit it is, anyone can work it but it does nothing fancy.
