In the S/390 case its perhaps less of an issue to a customer because you already assigned IBM control of your left testicle when you bought into the S/390 platform. There are ways of building that kind of support as a multi-way partnership with all the relevant code authors. Thankfully you can play nethack/390 without OCO modules ;) Alan
