1 - Add a new disk in /etc/zipl.conf ... parameters="dasd=0b0e,0b0f,0b10 root=/dev/dasda1" ...
new disc (dasdc)= 0b10
2 - Reboot your linux:
3 - Format disk:
dasdfmt -b 4096 -f /dev/dasdc
4 - Partitioning disk (create dasdc1):
fdasd /dev/dasdc
5 - Create a file system
mke2fs -b 4096 /dev/dasdc1
6 - Add new disk in the /etc/fstab
/dev/dasdc1 /opt ext3 defaults 1 2

Perhaps you are able to point me in the right direction , we are installing Suse8 in LPAR mode , I have got the load off the CD and am able to telnet to Linux, my problem is now how do I format the disks' I have done the 'insmod dasd_mode dasd=***,***' command but when I do a cat of /proc/dasd/devices it shows the disks as unknown
