I would recommend re-IPLing from your boot tape. Then, once the system is
up
1. insmod dasd_mod dasd=2300-230f
2. insmod dasd_eckd_mod
3. mount your root file system on /mnt
4. mount any other file systems you created on /mnt/whatever
5. chroot /mnt
6. cd /boot
7. make sure you've got a k_deflt-something directory and that there is
image file in it
8. make sure /etc/zipl.conf has in it what you expect in the way of DASD
parms, etc.
9. re-run the "zipl" command
10. exit
11. umount all your file systems
12. re-IPL from 2300

Subject: SuSE 8 Installation problem on z800

We have completed the SuSE 8 installation on an LPAR. But we are not able
to IPL. It goes into wait status. Looks like the bootstrap is missing.
We allocated 16 x 3390 volumes (0x2300 to 0x230F) and the fitst one
contains the boot partition.

When IPLing, we specify 0x2300 as the boot device and no load params.

What we get is the message:
An error was detected in partition LINUX. Central Processing (CP) 00 is in
a disabled wait state. The disabled wait PSW is 000A00000000000F.
Central storage bytes 0 - 7 are: 000A00000000000F.

Anyone encountered this before?

We tried to reinstall and in yast took the "Boot from ..." option, which
complained about something not mounted and killed my SSH session.
