YaST typically takes your DASD parameters, and re-orders them to its liking.
I consider this a pretty horrific behavior, but that's the way it is. You
need to make sure that what ever DASD volume your /boot directory winds up
on is the device number you IPL from. That may or may not be 2300,
depending on how you laid out your file systems.

You should not require any load parameters simply because the kernel you're
running won't ever get to see them.

Perhaps some more information would be helpful:
What file systems are on what volumes/partitions
The contents of your /etc/zipl.conf file

We thought that was the problem. We checked. Our consultant tells us that
the first of the volumes (0x2300) should be the IPL device. He was not
sure about the load parameter. What goes into the load parameter? Is it
something to do specifically with Linux?
