The OS X kernel is "Darwin", itself based on the Mach microkernel. Supposedly there is a good deal of higher-level BSD code in there, and it wouldn't surprise me much to find out that FreeBSD was the source. But it is nevertheless incorrect to say that OS X is FreeBSD. Apple *did* hire Jordan Hubbard, one of the FreeBSD founders and core team members. -- David Andrews A. Duda and Sons, Inc.
