Hi I used mknod /dev/ntibm0 c 254 0 meanwhile my vm admin attached tape drive , but when i used mt -f /dev/ntibm0 rewind system says: "mt: /dev/ntibm0: No medium found" I don't know what is my problem. --regarding --Sophia

I did notice that I had to "mknod /dev/ntibm0 c 254 0", "mknod /dev/rtibm0 c 254 0" and "mknod /dev/btibm0 b 254 0" to get the examples to work.

Yes, but it's not very efficient. Check out http://sinenomine.net/publications/presentations.php#2004 for my MVMUA presentation on a way to make use of VM and/or z/OS-controlled tape w/o having to attach the drives directly to the Linux system.
The approach in the presentation also allows non-VM guest systems to make use of the capability.
