Hello folks, I am tring to uses the rexec command from a VM/CMS userid to a SUSE SLES8 image running of the same VM system.
z/VM Version 4 Release 4.0, service level 0301 (32-bit) The following CMS rexec with the debug flag command fails: rexec -d -l roske03 -p roske03 x55.35.123.98 ls REXEC Level 440, Internal version id 3.A.0 PQ33751 parms is -d -l xxxxx -p xxxxx x55.35.123.98 ls Variables have the following assignments: fhost : x55.35.123.98 userid : xxxxx passwd : xxxxx command : ls calling GetHostResol with x55.35.123.98 Connecting to x55.35.123.98, port REXEC (512) Passive Conn - OK on local port 11208 passive open complete on port 0 Active Conn - OK on local port 11209 active open complete on port 1 getnextnote until DD Connection state changed Open rexec invoked sending: 11208"xxxxx"xxxxx"ls" D2 len 25 returning from REXEC_UTIL Connection state changed Nonexistent Unable to open port 512 to host x55.35.123.98 Returning from recv_notices. rexec complete Ready(00036); T=0.01/0.01 12:24:46 The Linux /var/log/messages file contains the the error messages related to the rexec command: Feb 20 09:29:10 linux in.rexecd[2070]: connect from x55.35.123.97(x55.35.123.97) Feb 20 09:29:10 linux in.rexecd[2070]: error: cannot execute /usr/sbin/in.rexecd : No such file or directory We installed SLES8 rexecd using the SUSE application installation routine. I did not find the "in.rexecd" file anywhere. What do I need to do to get rexec working on SUSE Linux. Thanks Ken
