Have you taken a look at UTS Global's ned editor for Linux/390?  It looks
like it would be a lot nicer.

I find the 3215 is no less functional, frankly.

Sure, you can perform emergency repairs, if you know ed or sed, or, my
favorite, cat + echo + head + tail (which sounds like something that happens
when you pitch a kitty into a well, but no matter).  It's not very much fun,
though.
