Since /proc is a pseudo-file system in the Linux system itself, I don't see
how it would be possible to collect information from it without "running in
Linux at all."
My thinking was that since /proc is a pseudo-file system, it is not on
disk. It is probably in Linux's virtual storage. A virtual machine with
the proper authority could use CP commands (or the DIAG instruction) to
view Linux's virtual storage and get the information.
