Alan, Steve is only partially correct with this.  Yes, you can use the
"Load from CD-ROM or Server" function on the HMC to start the installation
system in the LPAR.  Once started in this way, just the same as if a tape
IPL had been performed, that installation system has to find it's way to
the rest of the files on the CD -- which means network or local disc,
since the HMC's CD/DVD drive is not an LPAR-addressable device.

"Start the installation process", yes.  "Install", well, no.  Sorry to be
a pedant... ;)
