Au contraire!  There is an FTP server in the HMC.

Console Actions -> TCP/IP Configuration
Security Tab - Add a userid to be used for FTP access to the CD-ROM drive
Security Tab - FTP Configure - specify read access to the CD-ROM drive G:

Don't forget to enable FTP to pass through the firewall protecting the CEC
management network!  (You *do* protect the management LAN segment, don't
you?)
