Yep, I do have the 'config.log'...thanks
I took one look at it and saw the #define stuff and decided that was
not a log file but I thought it may have been a temp file for some "c"
code.

You should have a config.log file that contains most of the output of
the
configure command, along with a lot of extra stuff that is useful for
looking
into issues with the configure step.
Issue the following command before doing the configure...
script
Then issue the configure and make, and then issue the command...
exit
You will end up with a file name 'typescript' that contains all the
output of
the configure and make commands.
