What about in a situation where you have z/OS in one LPAR with IBM's System
Automation product running, and a z/VM LPAR where you have your Linux
guests....
Is there any interoperability possible with z/OS SA and z/VM LPAR to LPAR?
We have the ability via StoneBranch software's universal command product to
send any command we wish to any Linux we wish (with authentication, of
course) in a batch job, so the shutdown -z is possible on a scheduled
basis.
Is there a way to do this XAUTOLOG function with a trigger coming from z/OS
automation?

If you are referring to signal shutdown support, yes. We can shut down
Linux guests from a CMS machine, then restart it with XAUTOLOG.
