Hi, Bob. Unfortunately, the "basevol/guestvol" approach invented by CA's Bill Scully for SLES 8 and similar Linux kernels does not work with the newer SLES9 version. There was a significant change between SLES8 and SLES9 in device handling and the manner in which the "mount --bind" remounting command works.
To the best of my knowledge, Bill's basevol/guestvol approach has not been updated to support th way things now work in SLES9 (which, imho, is a real shame because it's a very slick way of sharing DASD among VM Linux guests.) DJ Bob wrote:
Hello all, I am trying to build a Basevol/Guestvol Shared OS DASD system. It appears that the SuSE 9 system is different from SuSE 8. I have a bunch of SuSE 8 system up sharing the OS. Is there anything special to make the SuSE 9 work? and does it work if the shared OS dasd is an LVM? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
