Mark,
The manual did not have a redirect(">") symbol and also did not instruct
us to do "echo 1 > /sys/bus/ccwgroup/drivers/qeth/0.0.0700/layer2".
Once I did that we were able to bring up Layer2 NIC.

And when you do
"echo 1 > /sys/bus/ccwgroup/drivers/qeth/0.0.0700/layer2"
and
"echo 1 > /sys/bus/ccwgroup/drivers/qeth/0.0.0700/online"
what happens?
