Upon further examination, the SLES10 directories are essentially

the installation DVD.

Is there an easy way to "extract" the files from this iso file and
create the source files needed by the software management function
on my SLES10 target machine?

Yep.

mount -t iso9660 -o loop SLES-10-IBM zSeries-DVD1.iso /mnt

Then, ftp/scp/rsync/whatever the files over.

Or just mount it and point the installer at the mount directory
(which you would have to serve up with apache or an ftpd or SMB or
something)--at least, this works with SP1.
