If there's a portname on the card that means it is/was used by somebody.
If you're absolutely SURE that no one is or should be using the card,
you can take the CHPID offline and bring it back online to clear the
portname.

Before starting round two with our network guy, I was wondering
if the portname shown below could hurt? This is the name of

already blank but I saved it anyway. So where is the below portname
coming from? Does it matter?
