Neither z/VM nor Linux need an OSA port name. IF you specify it, it must
match the currently registered port name, if any. If you do not specify
it, then you can use the card without regard to any registered port name.

If you have a z800 or z900, driver 3G - EC stream J11204, MCL032 (OSA
level 3.33) - removed the restriction, as did PTFs to z/VM 4.3. (This
was, IIRC, all back in 2001.)

I continue to recommend that you do NOT specify a port name in Linux and
VM TCP/IP configurations. The port name is still required for z/OS.
