Your concerns are VERY valid about DRA recovery.

Maybe another angle would be to advise management about NOT being able
to recover, its impact on business continuity, SARBOX legal and
regulatory issues, ??????  That might loosen the purse strings a little.

Explore what the REAL costs and consequences being unable to recover
would be.

We don't  have any mod 9 available in the z/VM pool, all were
re-allocated to the z/OS Adabas databases. We are trying to get more
dasd, but approval is very slow and painful  and management does  not
want to spend any money at all.

I just want to thank everyone for their response, You people provided me
with good ideas for now and the future.

My main concern is to have a backup copy of the volume groups for
disaster recovery purposes as soon as possible. Last weekend we almost
had to do a full z/VM and Linux recovery.

Would it not be much less trouble to change the backup volumes to
3390-9?
